Does track changes leave a trail?

Quick question:

If I have a document sent to me with changes, and I accept those changes and
send it to someone else, can they see the changes that were made previously
or does the trail disappear?

Also do the comments disappear or stay once I accept all changes?
 
Accepting all the changes removes the edit trail, but the comments must be
deleted in a separate operation.
