Does PowerPoint allow you to create type in an arc shape?

I need to insert text in an image that contains a circle. I want the text to
align with the circle's arc. Can PowerPoint do this? Or, are you limited to
either horizontal or vertical text? Thanks.

You can use WordArt for this purpose. Do the following:
1. Select "Insert" | "Picture..." | "WordArt..." menu item.
2. One of the styles in WordArt Gallery is a text on an arc. Select that.
3. Click OK.
4. Type in text.
5. Click OK.
