I am looking for or trying to create a database that will let me know how
many copies of a book I have, their condition, the subject, number, etc.

There are quite a few such databases on the web - google for "microsoft access
library template" and see. One is right in Microsoft's template library if you
have A2007:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/TC102068831033.aspx?CategoryID=CT101428241033

It should certainly not be necessary to pay anyone for a template; Steve who
replied earlier is notorious for inappropriately grubbing for pay on the
newsgroups.
