Does an ISO archive already contain all boot information ?

Assume I have an *.ISO file and burn it on a CD/DVD.
Is this burned CD/DVD automatically bootable as well if the
original CD/DVD (from which the *.ISO image is ripped) was bootable?

In other words: Does the *.iso file already contain ALL necesssary boot information ?

Or do I have to tell the burning software in an additional, separate option
"please software add boot information resp. burn it as a bootable CD/DVD" ?

Depends what the iso is.....

Generally, yes. The bootcode is included in the .iso

In most cases there are few options for burning an iso, the settings have
already been determined.

An issue I have found is that some software doesn't seem to handle bootable
..isos properly. Nero seems to be the best, as usual.

Yes. That is why iso files are distributed instead of separate files in zip.

An .iso is an image of the CD/DVD. It does depend on how the .iso was
prepared.but in general , yes, if the original was bootable so should a CD
burned from the *.iso.
