Does Access always truncate to text field?

I know that Access truncates to 255 characters during an export function, but
I just tried a straight up copy and paste from an Access table to Excel and
it still truncated to 255 characters. Is there any way around this?
 
Use the TransferSpreadsheet action and choose the most new version of EXCEL
as the format for the export. See Help for more details.
