Does the close proximity of a CRT monitor affect an external hard drive?

Jack

It may or may not. Depends on the quality of the CRT monitor AND the quality
of the external hard drive.
I.E. Proper shielding.

My experimenting leads me to believe the chance of this happening are very
exagerated. If the HDD is in a meatal case no. If it's in a plastic case and
the monitor is defective or had shielding removed maybe over a very long
period of time. I wouldn't worry about it but on the other hand power of the
magnetism at 2" is 1/4 what it is at one inch. So if you have a little extra
room.......................
