I'm using Word 2002. I received a document from a user and whenever I open
the document, it opens on the second page. I have turned on show/hide,
checked out reveal formatting, and looked through a lot of MVP help. I have
not done any edits. I know I can hit F5 and go to the last edit, but I have
done nothing to this document. Can anyone tell me what is wrong that I can
fix and have it open at the top of the first page? Thanks very much.

What happens when you hold down SHIFT while opening this document? If you no
longer see the behavior, then it contains a macro that's setting the focal
point (and you have macro security turned off?)

Other than that, are you able to click into and edit the top portion at all? If
not, then document protection has been activated and you need to turn that off
(Tools/Unprotect document).

Hi Cindy, Thanks for responding. Nothing changes when I hold down the shift
key, it still opens on the second page and the document is not protected.
You made me think, though, about the cursor. This document has 3 tables, one
on each page. I couldn't see the cursor when I opened the document so I
zoomed to 500% and looked. The cursor was blinking at the bottom left just
under the table on the first page. Although it looks like it opens to the
second page, it must actually be opening on the line where the cursor is like
it should. Now the problem is inserting a blank line above the first table,
I think. So I tried cut, page break, insert and a bunch of stuff but no
luck. Do you know how I could get a line above the table. Thanks

Update....I was just making it hard on myself. The answer was easy. All I
had to do was select the table, hold down my mouse button, and drag the table
down to give myself a line the table. Then I saved the document and it opens
at the top of the page!!! Thanks so much.
