Docmd.Applyfilter and OnCurrent event ?

Does Docmd.Applyfilter trigger the OnCurrent event for the first record
retrieved by the filter?
In my case it does not appear to be, should it?

I have data from a related record that needs to be displayed in unbound
fields and I'm relying on the OnCurrent event to load it.
