doc w/ same name open?

When I try to open a document i get an error message a
document with the same name is already open. Cannot open
2 docs w/ same name??
 
Hi Jeff
this is a Excel restriction. Excel can only open one file with the same
name (though they are in different directories)
 
I don't have the docs in any additional folders. Happens
on every doc open attempt.
 
It sounds like you have another instance of Excel or Word still runnin
in your background processes. Open your task manager and view you
current processes to see if you see any other Excel.exe or WinWord.ex
running. If so, kill the process and try to reopen the document. Doe
this only occur with one particular document or all documents of th
same type?

Tools ----> Options.

Make sure "Ignore Other Applications" is not checked

If this doesn't work try reregistering Excel.

There is only one Excel running, I get the error message
every time I open an Excel file. (only Excel)I am running
Office 97 w/Win/XP
