Recently, i have been attachign doc files to some emails and my students are
receiving them as dat files and are unable to open them. I dont have Word set
as my editor and mail format is html. Nothing has changed recently to warrant
this problem. If i send the mail with the attachment to myself, i am able to
open it. But i checked my webmail and it showed the attachment as a dat file!
ANy answers??
Thanks.

It sounds as if you're unintentionally using the rich text format instead of
the HTML format for your messages.

Is this when you are sending to an @aol.com address by any chance? It could
be a mime issue? I have heard of this afew times in the past.
