Do you want to open this file?

I just started to get this new Security Warning message when I attempt
to open an access file. It looks like another MS window. I normally
got the regular security warning (dialog box) after I logged into the
access file. Is this new window something new to access or has my
database been corrupted somehow?

I've since tried to get rid of the regular security warning and found
the publisher to be Adobe. I never used adobe. Should I accept this
publisher?

A little help here... we can't see the Security Message, what does it say?
What version of Access and which SP do you have? What does the regualr
security warning say? How did you try to get rid of the regular security
message?

The new message reads: Do you want to open this file? Then it lists
the name, publisher, type and from with an open and cancel button.
The security warning at the bottom reads ... While file from the
Internet can be useful, this file type can potentially harm your
computer. If you do not trust the source, do not open this software.

The regular security warning is the security warning dialog box:
which states This file may not be safe if it contains code that was
intended to harm your computer. Do you want to open this file or
cancel the operation?

I tried to get rid of the warnings by selecting the Tools - Macro -
Security option from access.

I was always getting the regular security warning, but never the first
warning window which looks like a form rather than a dialog.

Sorry - 2003 SP1. I updated SP so now its SP3 but when I open Access
(no database) I now get a security warning. This file has been
digitally signed by Adobe Systems, Incorporated. This file may not
be safe ....
Do you want to open this file ... None of this seems right to me.
Why did the first error suddenly appear?

cp2599,

I was actually not at the install the updates yet but that's okay. Do you
still get the original security message? If yes, go to Tools... Macro
Secuirty and set it to Low. Have you opened any databases that you have not
created? And/Or have you installed any PDF software that you wanted to use
with Access for Access? I have not heard of Access opening and asking
anything if you are not opening a database... Doesn't mean it can't happen
but that is a new one on me...

I'm still getting the original message also. I suspect someone got
hold of the database I was working on. To my knowledge I have not
opened any database that I have not created.

Go to the VBA Editor for any form. Then go to Tools - Digital SIgnature.
If you see the Adobe one there remove it. If you see nothing report that.

Sorry about that... I saw an aswer and did not pay attention. I am
guessing by your answer that you are running Windows XP, so UAC not an
issue. WHat about your permissions? Are you hooked up to a network?

My permissions and network hook up are fine. Is ACWZTOOL.MDE a file
provided by microsoft? If so, why would it be giving me a security
warning when the other MDE files in this directory do not.

G

Gina Whipp

It is a Microsoft file... It is a file that is used by Access when you call
the Wizard and I don't know why yours is giving you a security warning, mine
isn't. Perhaps you need to reinstall Access, maybe your installation is
corrupted?
