Do you want to make a copy

Every time I open a Word document (I have not tried other office products
such as Excel yet), I get a message stating Document is being used by Edward
Pannone (me), Do you want to make a copy. How do I stop this annoyance?
I am using Word 97
OS Windows 2000
 
Thank you. I did try that however:
I downloaded Sr1Off97 and Sr2bOf97 and that fixed the problem. Now I have a
similar Excel problem. ArghSigh:(
