Do you need to be Admins to run an acLink???

Hello (using Access 2000)

I'm doing a TransferSpreadsheet acLink in my code and it works fine
when I do it as Administrator. But when the other users try to run
the code it does not work. I took one of the users and added "Admins"
to there user account and then it worked fine for them. Is this the
only way I will be able to do the acLink?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Ray,

Creating a table link would indeed be an administrative type task.
Therefore, while I do not know for positive-certain, I would expect only
administrators to be able to do it. If you do not want you users to be
administrators, it may make sense to provide a work table into which they can
import the spreadsheet and from which they then can do whatever it is that
they need to do. You should include emptying the work table just before
importing the spreadsheet.

Hope that helps,

The other users need to belong to a group which has modify design
permissions
for new tables. The admins group is such a group but you can create a
custom
group so the other users don't need to be members of the admins group.
