Do you need HELP with SPYWARE?

R

Ron Kinner [MVP]

Rather than chase through all of these posts I'm just
going to post this here. If you have spyware that AntiSpy
can't get rid of and you would like some free advice from
a veteran of the spyware wars then get HijackThis from

http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

Save it (preferably to its own folder) then Open it and
select the SCAN AND SAVE LOG option.

Note where you save the log and then send it to me as an
attachment with a short note about your problem. Put
HijackThis in the subject so I will know it's not spam. I
will be glad to look at it and tell you what to do to get
rid of it for good.

Why am I doing this? I work as a Network Engineer but
unless there is a problem I have nothing to do and I'm
bored to death and besides I hate spyware. If you are
worried that I might be a scam artist you can check out my
profile on the HP forum:

I think you are probably just a victim of the broken URL:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/...0.html&admit=716493758+1108583049740+28353475
(it works fine for me)
As a general preference, I believe that these analyses should be done in
public forums so that the responses are "peer reviewed"--this really is an
art, rather than a strict science.

However, I accept Ron's bona fides, and am happy that he's willing to do the
work that he's doing here, so I've left off making that complaint!

The entire address has been word-wrapped, add the next line to it.

I know that, (I was born during the day, it was just not yesterday)I
added the next line to it and it still did not work. Thanks anyway!

Thank you Bill, now that worked!

Wasn't suggesting that your weren't, however this is what he posted:

Both of the previous lines are one URL - put the second in behind the first
in your address line and it works fine. I opened it no problem. So that is
what I suggested to you.

Just like so: It works

Sorry I came off strong, I did just that and it did not work. However,
Bill's link worked just fine.... go figure!

Ahh - that product that puts its own Java version out there, and one that
has security vulnerabilities, and no obvious method to patch or replace it,
either.
