I you go to HKEY LOCAL
MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControl\Control\SessionManager\Memor
yManagement in the registry and change the value of
ClearPageFileAtShutdown from 0 to 1, it will clear the
page file at Windows shutdown and when it reboots. DO NOT
DO THIS!!!!! Leave the value at 0. If you change the
value to 1, your reboot and shutdown times will be
greatly lengthened.

This is a responce to the POST on Sept 4th at 6:32pm
which I asked for help about slow reboot and shutdown
times. I also say thanks for the responce that I received
which helped me discover the problem.

Thanks,
Maurice

That's why it's an option. Slower and more secure or
faster and less secure - your choice.

I found that very interesting as the value in my registry was 1 and I always
wondered why I was having such slow shut downs - it would hang at "Windows
is shutting down" forever. I just altered the value to 0 and it cured the
problem.
I posted this many times and noone else came up with this solution.
Thank you!

The security is really only for the paranoid or organisations with
extremely sensitive data, wanting to make quite sure that there is
nothing left in the file that a thief might be able to access.
