Do I use Firewire adapter bracket or connect directly to Mobo (A7N8X DX)

I would like to put in a FrontX front panel connection for my firewire ports
and I'm wondering if I need to use the firewire adapter bracket that came
with my A7N8X Deluxe Rev. 2.0 or if I can just plug straight into the mobo.
I know for example that with the SPDIF connections you need to use the
adapter brackter since it has some needed circuitry, is this also the case
with the firewire bracket?

Thanks,
Harry

From the manual:

"This header supports an IEEE 1394 serial connector cable set that
mounts to a standard expansion slot in the computer case. 1394-compliant
internal fixed disk drives may also be connected to these headers."

Although it doesn't explicitly say, it does sound like that it will work
if the connected item has the same standard header as the board.
