Do I need Windows XP to get Student Select Office 2003 Profession.

I am a college student and not very computer literate. I am looking in to
getting MS Student Select Office 2003 Professional, I need the programs for
school, but am unsure if it will run on my current computer. I currently have
Windows 2000. I have heard great things about XP. Do I need XP to run Office
2003 on my computer? Basically my question is...do I need both XP and Office
2003 to have an efficient computer or can I just get Office 2003 and have a
quick computer?

You don't need Windows XP. Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 will do fine
(if you take my advice, you will avoid Service Pack 4 if you don't already
have it, because there is the possibility that it will render your computer
unusable). When Windows XP was first introduced, some people described it
as "Windows 2000 with a paint job!"
