DNS zones Gone on 1 DNS server!

My client has two Windows 2000 AD controllers which both
are DNS servers. (FS3 and FS5) Both are dished out in
the DHCP scope, FS5 primary and FS3 secondary. My client
has configured a ton of entries in the forward look up
zones.

He noticed yesterday that when he goes into DNS on FS5
that NOTHING is listed in the zones. Also, he only sees
FS5 when in there on FS5 and NOT FS3 at all.
DNS zones Gone on 1 DNS server!

When he goes into DNS on FS3 he sees ONLY FS5! and NOT
FS3. However, you can see all the lookup zones he created
on FS5 listed under FS5 when looking at DNS on FS3! I
tried copying the .dns file from FS3 to FS5 but that did
not help.

The other thing is that everything on the network works
fine as it always has. Is there some way to port forward
lookup zone info from FS3 to FS5? (Even though on FS3 it
lists it under FS5? -very confused)

Let me know what you think.

Where these Active Directory Integrated Zones?
If so, run DCDIAG /e /v to check if replication is working.

If these are Standard Primary/Secondary zones you can do a zone transfer but
it should have been doing zone transfers all along. Unless zone transfers
were not enabled and the Secondary Expired.

Are these zones configured as standard primary or are they configured as AD integrated? If they are standard primary, then the
zone will not replicate to the other DNS server unless the other DNS server has been configured as a secondary for this zone. If
the zones are AD integrated, then AD replication should replicate the zones to the other DC. If it's not, then you have a AD
replication problem.

Active Directory runs on both machines. How do I tell if
it is AD Integrated? How do I do a zone transfer?

Right click on the zone choose properties on the General tab it will have
the type. Choices on a DC are Standard Primary, Standard Secondary, or
Active Directory Integrated.
If the are AD integrated zone transfer are not need the zones will replicate
to all DCs in the domain through Active Directory.
If the are Primary/ secondary zone transfers are required to the secondary
DNS server.
