I have setup a dns primary server in a lab with some test zones.
I noticed the hklm\system\currentcontrolset\dns\zone key doesn't exist.

I know it's suppose to be there.

any ideas

I think this key can't exist, simply because under "CurrentControlSet"
you will find Control,Enum,Hardware Profiles, and Services.

If you're looking for the DNS Zone file, try %SYSTEMROOT%\System32\DNS

Under HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\DNS you will find only the
parameters for the Windows Service to startup.

Hope it will help
