DNS Suffix Search Order via DHCP???

G

Guest

Another admin (at a conference) once casually told me they pushed their DNS
Suffix search order to clients thru DHCP. However, I can not find this
setting.

Does anyone know what option this is or if it can even be done?

Currently, I'm having to set it via login script. FYI: for those who haven't
tried it yet, the GPO setting does not work.

Thanks,
Kevin

Searching Google groups for:

[ Dhcp dns "suffix search order" | "suffix search * list" option
microsoft: ]

....gives top responses that suggest it is option:

But also suggests that Windows clients (through XP)
don't support it.

You best bet is likely Group Policy BUT only if you
have Win2003 DCs:

Or this article for scripting it even in Win2000 nets:

Someone else will respond if this isn't correct....<grin>
