DNS suffix configuration question

There seem to be two different locations where you can specify the DNS
suffix. The first is accessed by going to the Properties of My Computer ->
Computer Name -> Change -> More. The second is accessed via rClick on My
Network Places -> Properties -> Properties of Local Area Connection ->
Properties of TCP/IP -> Advanced -> DNS. Can anyone tell me the difference
between these two settings? Should they both be set, or is setting one or the
other enough?

The setting under the "My Computer" properties refers to the fully qualified
name of the system and the domain it has joined.
The TCP/IP settings are for registering the system to DNS using this name.
example:
System name = wxpstation1
Damain name = contoso.com
Join the contoso.com domain and the "My Computer" properties > more will show
contoso.com
The TCP/IP settings will not have an entry unless you add the entry which
will
register to a DNS server using the context you specify
In other words I could join the contoso.com domain but under TCP/IP the DNS
suffix will be empty until I specify how I want this system to register to DNS
