I've been asked to analyze a partner Company's AD setup. They have all sorts
of problems. I was looking through their DNS setup. Lets say the DNS name of
their AD 2003 domain is example.com. There is nothing in example.com but a
few DCs/ Everything is really in child.example.com.
What I thought was odd is that child.example.com is it's own DNS zone. It
isn't a sub zone of example.com. Is this a allowed way to have DNS setup.
Every other time I have setup a child domain it has been a sub zone of the
parent DNS zone.
What is the correct way to set this up? Will the incorrect way work
properly?
Thanks,
Matthew
