DNS issues internally and externally

I set up a Windows 2003 domain with an internal domain
name that is also used externally. What I mean is I
created the internal domain xyz.com and they have a
company hosting their web site and email that is also
named xyz.com I know there was alot of talk about this
issue in Windows 2000.

After setting this up I found out I couldn't get to their
external web site and got that fixed no problem. What is
happening now is they can't send email to an external
address at their somain xyz.com.

My question is how do I get around this? Can I just add an
MX record internally to point it to the external mail
server?

Thanks

That's exactly what you can do. Any public resources for xyz.com must be
manually added to the internal DNS zone. Remember that if your internal DNS
server sees a request for an xyz.com resource it will look in it's own zones
for the answer and no further.
