DNS is failing as a forwarder..

Hello.

We are having problems with our DNS server failing to forward to our
ISP. We do not have it configured as a root domain. We have our
server forwarding to the local ISP and it works 99% but then it stops
resolving any request unless I restart the serverice then it works. I
am not getting any errors at all in my logs. I have changed the DNS
server and even use a different ISP's DNS servers. During the failure
I run NSLOOKUP on my server and it fails at my local host not
resolving any external domain. When its working it reports the
forwarder DNS and resolves my IP.

This is a 2003 DNS server.

Are you able to resolve internal names during these "pauses"? If not, make
sure your zone transfers are completing successfully.

ITs an issue when you upgrade from 2000 to 2003.
I need to call microsoft and they have a hotfix for it.

Thanks!

Curious, how did you determine that? Is there a tech article somewhere or
did you get that info from another newsgroup?
