Dns host file

Is it posible to enter SRV records in a static hosts file?
I thought there was a KB article on this but am unable to
find it again.

Hi. Thank-you for your post.

The hosts file does not support SRV records. The hosts file supports IP
address to name mappings only. SRV records, MX records, etc, will not be
loaded into the DNS client's name cache from the hosts file.
