DNS Error - but no issue after a reboot

Hi all

I’m getting a “Cannot find server or DNS Error†on some particular sites I
am trying to access. The strange thing is that after a reboot I can get
straight into them…however, about 5 mins later when I try again I get the DNS
error once more. Reboot again, fine…5 mins go past, problem returns. The
sites I am trying to access are within our intranet and require Windows
credentials to access. These sites have been added to my trusted site list.
I’m confident settings are OK with my browser because I can access these
sites seamlessly straight after a reboot. There just seems to be something
somewhere that ‘wakes up’ several minutes later which doesn’t let my browser
pass credentials to the appropriate sites.

I’m working on a freshly built machine with Win XP Pro, XP SP2. I am
confident there is no Spy/Mal/Ad/Scum ware on the box as it was only built a
few weeks ago and has not been outside our office (which is pretty secure).
Just the same I followed the advice on other posts and checked anyway. Found
nothing…

I have read all the posts which seem to be similar to mine but there doesn't
seem to be any definitive answer. Any and all advice/help much appreciated.

What does nslookup show you for them?

Perhaps you should put those sites into your HOSTS file?

Thanks Robert,

I tried that already too as a result of reading some of your other posts -
no luck there either.

Cheers,
