DNS Cacheing in OL 2002

Hi

Does anyone know of OL caches DNS entries within the application itself. I
am having problems where the POP3 server is hosted on an dynamic IP address
and when that changes OL continues to resolve to the old IP address. If I
insert the actual IP address (which does resolve correctly on a ping) then
it connects to the POP3 server no problem.

Any help would be appreciated

Kind regards

Dont quote me but I am not sure that Outlook would cache DNS lookups, is the
POP3 server locally to your dial up connection or is it hosted by another
provider and are they in the same country and lastly how often does the
dynamic address change.

Don't know if it'll help, but you could try running "ipconfig /flushdns" and
then it should clear out the cache. Is there any way to make it static IP or
to use Dynamic DNS?

Cheers,

Hi Rich

I've tried that - it seems that OL is some how storing the DNS information,
i.e. it isn't reading from the cache or looking it up on the DNS server

Kind regards
