dllhost.exe

everytime im online everything will start running really
slowly after a while. I open task manager and go into the
processes and notice that dllhost.exe is using about 90
odd % of the CPU. Is this a virus?

I had a similar problem in 9x when running Adshield 1.2. I didn't monitor
CPU usage but the system would more-or-less freeze. Dllhost.dll was always
running at these times and end-tasking it freed the system up. It wouldn't
happen prior to going online, which was when Adshield would launch. 1.2
calls dllhost.dll while 1.1 doesn't. 1.1 runs fine here. However, 1.2 runs
without problems here on XP.

Through a series of formats/re-installs I proved conclusively that Adshield
1.2 was the key - yet very few other users seem to have the problem. The
only time I've seen dllhost.dll in the 9x Task Manager is when Adshield 1.2
was loaded. Because it doesn't then unload - or not here anyway - the
freeze-ups continue having disconnected from the net. Incidently this is
from 2 years ago.
