A few days ago I upgaded our anti-norton virus to 9.0. Since then I've been getting an error when opening my Outlook " The add-in "C:\Program Files\NavNT\vpmsece.dll" could not be installed or loaded. It tells me the problem maybe be resolved using detect and repair on the computer, that hasn't worked.
I see that file in my symantec folder I'm not sure how it relates to my Outlook though.
Any suggestions would be great!

This is the integration of Norton into Outlook. You should be able to remove
this link to the (old version of the) virusscanner by going to Tools->
Options-> tab Other-> button Advanced Options-> button COM Add-ins...

Tips of the month:
-Backup and Restore
-Create an Office XP CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 3

Does it show up as a subkey in the following registry key?
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\AddIns]

If so Export the key first to a file and then delete the key.

Thanks for responding so quickly.
I have another question, when I clicked on COM Add-ins I had nothing in
there do I add this file? from the Symantec folder? I'm still not sure
what I have to do once I'm in COM Add-ins

All I have under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook...
is OMI Account Manager, Accounts, 00000001. I don't see AddIns anywhere.

Alright, can you locate extend.dat on your system? By default it should be
listed here (make sure you can view hidden files ad folders);
C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook
rename it to extend.old
