.dll file association

I am running WIN2K SP4 and I have a problem. For some
reason, Cool Edit Pro 2.0 took over the associations of
all my .dll files. Why it did it I don't know. However,
since I deleated it, the correct association never came
back. I looked in the file type area of the folder and
there is no .dll file association listed.
The system works fine, but I find it a bit unnerving to
run the system and not have the correct file association.
Since there are hundreds of .dll files, and some of them
in with the programs that are on my system, I would hate
to do a dump and reload just to fix the problem. I would
also hate to create a new association and have it not be
correct for all the .dll files.
I have tried the system repair and nothing.
Any suggestions to correct this?

No worries. .dll files by default, are not associated with any
program. They will be called and used as needed by the system and/or
applications.

Thank you, Warren for your fast response. What I did was
look in the file type and found that there was no listing
for .dll files, though I did find some leftover Cool Edit
file listings. I typed in .dll, asked me if I wanted to
change anything, said no and I now have the correct icon
listed for all the .dll files before the Cool Edit glitch.
I also found the fix for the missing file, mscoree.dll in
Install Shield in looking at this forum that was
cronically coming up when I do a system scan with NSW 2004
Pro. Great to be back to normal again until the next one.
