I've been trying to configure a new distributed file system root on my
Windows 2003 server and have been unsuccessful. I make it through the
wizard until I click the "Finish" button. At this point, an alert is
displayed that says, "The following error occurred while creating DFS
root on server child.domain.com: The specified path is invalid."
The share that I was trying to use is on a drive that has been mounted
inside of a directory (E.G. C:\Shares\ is actually located on another
physical drive then C:\). I suspected this to be the cause of my
problem so I created a new share for my DFS and used the directory,
C:\temp, which is located on the same physical drive as C:\. My
suspicion was confirmed when I was able to create the DFS with no
problems. Is this a bug with the wizard or is it not possible to create
a DFS on these types of directories?
I appreciate any advice and thank you in advance,
