Distinct counts in piviot tables

I sure need some help here.

I was trying to count distinct occurence of transportation in the following:

Type Status
Car Active
Car Active
Car Active
Car Decoupled
Truck Active
Truck Active
Truck Decoupled
Truck Hold
Truck Active
Train Hold
Train Decoupled
Train Active
Train Active
Plane Hold
Plane Active


But only want to show the count for active as 4; although there are 9 counts
of active there are only 4 different distinct types.

Here's one way: First choose Data | Advanced Filter | Unique Records Only |
Copy To Another Location. Then choose Data | Filter to view unique records,
or choose Data | Pivot Table to obtain a count.
