Displaying Watermark behind Graph lines - Excel 2000

Hi,
This may not be the brightest of questions, but I cannot
figure out what should be a simple process. I want to
insert a symbol behind the lines in an excel spread
sheet. I have managed to do it using the
format/sheet/background routs, but I get a repetative
pattern that doesn't print.

What I specifically need is to center a crest in the
middle of this work sheet so that it can both be typed
over top of , and print.

You can do this in word by going to the header and footer
section, but I also need to lock the fields so that not
all of them can be edited.
