Hi,
I have a product form where i would like to see the image of the product.

I created a filed "Photo" (OLE Object). I created a product record and
inserted my image. But I just see the name of the file instead of my image.

How can I fix this?
Thanks,
Barbara

Create the image as a bitmap (wmp) file and then either link or insert.

If you don't have a programme for this create any picture file then open the
table that will hold the data. Right click the field and use the "Insert
Object" button.

Next - Click CreateNew and click Bitmap on the dropdown. Thus will open MS
paint programme then click "Paste From" (on the edit menu). Click save and
update then preview the form.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
The images that i have to insert are photos. They are saved on my PC in jpeg
format.
To insert a file, i choose the option "Insert Object", then "Create from
File", "Browse" and then I select the picture I need. Still, only the name
appears, not the image!

If you are trying to virew the image ina tble or query, double click the
field.
The photo should be viewable in a form or report.

Hi sorry for the late reply - went out for a cup of tea

Anyway

If you are not getting the results you want by following the F1 instructions
(which it seems you are). You should try and follow the tips I gave above.
I look after 12 completely different access d bases all for completely
different stuff. One of them is for an international trekking company and
they have photos of all of their clients on file on a form that relates to
that particular client along with lodes of other stuff.

As I said the easiest way to get it sorted is NOT to follow the F1
instructions (the MS access help file) not saying it won’t work it's just
better this way (as you pictures will be auto-sized to fit the OLE box on
your form).

So

Create the image as a bitmap (wmp) file and then either link or insert.

But if you don't have a programme for this (to create wmp files - such as
pagesmaker, photoshop, correl photo-paint, etc) create any picture file
(jpeg's are fine) save them to your hard drive but DON'T try and paste them
it wont work.

Open the main table that will hold the data (inc. pictures). Right click
the OLE field and use the "Insert Object" button.

Next (still on the OLE field drop down) - Click CreateNew and click Bitmap
on the dropdown. This will open MS paint programme.

Click "Paste From" (it's one of the options on the Edit menu) - select the
saved picture from your hard drive and click save (give it a new name if you
want) and select Update then preview the form.

I have used this process for thousands of photos and it does work very well.

Good luck

I had this exact same problem and what the microsoft help page said never
worked for me. I have a book on Access 2003 for other problems I was having
and it never helped either but what Wayne said worked for me the first try
and i am using pictures that are saved as bitmaps.
Thanks Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Just wondering if you know what to do if you get to the pull down and bitmap
is not there?

Hi Wayne,

Just wondered if you know what to do if the pull down does not contain
bitmap as an option?
