I know that reminders only display if Outlook is open but is there a way to
set calendar reminders such that they display when working in another office
application ie Word or Excel with Outlook open in background?

At the moment they only display if Outlook is on the screen or they flash
orange in the task bar.

Got a version for that Outlook? For me (Outlook 2003 or 2007), reminders
open in their own reminder window as long as Outlook is running.

Many thanks Brian for your reply. The version of Outlook that I am running
2003. My reminders also pop up in their own window as well as goind orange
on the task bar BUT only if Outlook is running and on the screen. They do
not appear if I am working in another application and outlook is running in
the background. Any ideas?

As long as Outlook is running, whether its window is open or minimized, the
reminder window will open and its handle will also appear on the Taskbar,
flashing if you've enabled that option. However, it might open underneath
other another window having focus, and I don't think there's anything that
can be done about that.

I think it will come up on top if the window that's in focus is not
maximized. (many apps will not take focus over maxed windows but will if
they are less than full screen)

It doesn't for me. I never have maximized windows and the Reminder window
often opens beneath other windows. I find the flashing task bar handle to
be very beneficial because I'd miss some of my reminders otherwise.
