I have a Access database originally created in Access 97 which displays a
TIFF image in a form and a report using Access’s Image control. The image is
displayed correctly in Access 97 but in Access 2003 I get a runtime error
“2114â€. Microsoft Access doesn’t support the format of the file.
I have already done some research and Access 97 used a filter for converting
the TIFF. No mention of a filter is made in Office 2003 and the filter used
by Office 97 is not installed.
TIFF is listed as one of the supported graphics files in the help files I’ve
found for Access 2003.
I also have no problems with inserting a TIFF image in a Word document, the
problem only occurs when trying use the image control.
The files are external but converting the file formats is not an option as I
have over 1K of these files and the files are required by another application
that only reads TIFF image files.
The image controls work in Office 97 but not Office 2003. I find it hard to
believe Microsoft dropped support of a common image format. So there must be
a way to get the control to display a TIFF image.
I’m open to suggestions other than completely rewriting the Access database
or converting the files.
