Display value of cell

Using Excel 2000
In a cell the formula shows instead of the value/result,
how do I correct this? I want to see the formula.

Are all formulas cells show the formulas or just one?

Maybe you have a space before the = (Excel think it is text now)
Or your cell is format as text
 
If formula are being shown in all cells you should click tool, options
and in the View tab make sure that formula is unchecked (under window
options)

If it is only in some cells choose cell, right click mouse, choose
format cell. Choose general option and OK. finally edit cell and enter,
the formula should now be replaced with the answer.
