Thanks for responding to my posting. I have nvidia video card in my
computer.I downloaded the updated video driver from microsoft website
recently. When I restarted the computer ,the display became 4 bit
resulting in a grainy appearance. All my efforts to correct the problem
did not succeed. Then I used the system restore to bring to the
previous condition.Ever since I have this problem
First important thing to know: never use the drivers for hardware
devices from Windows Update. Always go to the device mftr.'s website.
In your case, you would go to Nvidia's website. First, go to Nvidia's
website and download the driver for your card and put it somewhere
you'll find it, like on your Desktop. Then in the Display applet,
change to Standard VGA. Then go to Device Manager and right-click on
the Nvidia card and choose "uninstall". You'll probably have to reboot.
Now you can install the Nvidia drivers by double-clicking on the file
you downloaded and hopefully that should fix things.
