display pictures- unvalid files

I've been having a problem with my display pictures for the past few
months... every time I try to make a new picture a display picture is says
"The file you have selected is not a valid image file. Please choose another
file." Now it used to be that if I reformated the files a few times it would
eventually work but it's gotten that no matter what I do I can't put any of
them as display pictures... it's awful anoing and if any of you have any
suggestions that would be much appreciated... thanks.

Greetings Danni,

This usually happens if your display picture store is damaged. Unfortunately the only real
way to repair is to remove it and start again. If that's fine with you, do the following --
shut down Messenger by right-clicking on its icon in the notification area and choosing Exit.
Click Start, then Run, type:
"%appdata%\microsoft\msn messenger" and click OK. Then find the folder associated to your
account (if you need to find the ID, see:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/msngrid.aspx). Then right-click the UserTile folder
and choose Delete. Confirm the operation and then log back into Messenger.
