Display list of folders instead of icons?

Everytime I look at my files and folders in Windows Explorer, it shows them
as icons. I change to Details, and next time it shows icons again instead of
a list of files. Is there a way in XP to change the default properties on
how lists of files are displayed and get rid of showing them as icons? The
Help part of XP doesn't have a thing on this (or if it does, I sure can't
find it).

Set the file view the way you want it to be. Then in Explorer click on
Tools, Folder Options, and View. Click the button at the top that says Apply
to All Folders.

Bless you. I've fought this for two years. So much for Windows being
"intuitive", huh?
