Display gone awry

Hi there!

Somehow I manage to mess up my display screen. I have a
white vertical rectangular box running from the top of my
screen to the bottom, about 2 inches wide, flush to the
left. It displays the Folder Tasks, Other Places, and
Details of the Desktop. You can hide the info within
these areas or not. However, I cannot rid myself of this
box, no matter how hard I try. I really don't know what I
did to have this thing appear and cannot seem to locate it
within the Display settings, Toolbar, or anywhere else.
Nothing happens when I right click on my mouse either.

Can anyone help me get rid of this little annoyance?
