Display Format in Combo Box

I have an Access 2003 combo box that is based on a query. The input mask for
the query and the combo box are set to: >AA\-0000\-0000;;_. I want the text
displayed in the combo box and if a selection is made to be in the same
format as the input mask.

Why isn't the input mask for the query or the combo box controlling how the
text in the combo box is display and how do I get the text to display it that
way?

Thanks for the help.

Open the form in design view, click on the combo, click on menu VIEW -
Properties.
Scroll down to Format. Enter the format you want.
Save.

Karl:

Maybe my post wasn't clear. When I applied formatting on the controll it had
no effect on the the way data is displayed when I entered the combo box to
make a selection from it. Once a selection is made the data is displayed
consistent with the input mask (>AA\-0000\-0000;;_) I entered for the query's
field properties that is the row source for the combo box or when I entered
it in the combo box control properties.

So, my question continues to be why isn't the input mask for the query or
the combo box controlling how the text in the combo box is display before a
selection is made and how do I get the text to display it consistent with the
input mask I want to use? For example, if the data is an employee's SSN which
is XXXXXXXXX and I want it to be displayed in the combo box when gets focus
to make a selection as: XXX-XX-XXXX.

Thanks for the help.
