display distorted after installing updates

I recently installed 2 windows xp updates and an update to
a logitech itouch keyboard. When I restarted my computer,
the display was very narrow and the height of my monitor
screen. I can't read the screen. I attempted to use the F8
on startup to restore the last good configuration, but my
arrow keys did not appear to be working. How can I get my
display back to normal?

You may want to attempt a System Restore. However, even though my
instructions will work without a good monitor image, there is one point at
which you will need to use the left arrow, so I hope you can either make
yours work, or figure a word around. Also, if your monitor image is only a
thin line, this won't work. I am assuming you have at least 3/4" wide or so.

Start Button
Type: H
Wait 10 seconds (or as long as it usually takes to bring up H&S)
Type: system restore
Hit Enter
Wait 10 seconds for the list of topics to populate
Tab 11 times
Hit Enter
Wait 10 seconds for the Wizard to come up
Hit Enter
Wait 10 seconds for the calendar to come up
Hit the back arrow twice, to go back to a good Restore point (depending on
when you installed the driver and updates; you are moving through a calendar
here)
Here is the sticky part. For some reason, neither N for Next nor Enter
advances you past this screen! So, you must carefully use your mouse to find
the right button. On my screen the Next button is 1/3 of the way from the
left edge, and less than 1/4 of the way from the bottom. If you click high
or low, nothing will happen. Too far left is Back, and too far Right is
Cancel. If you get to the next screen:
Hit Enter
That should be all!
Good luck, and I hope your arrow keys can be made to work, as backspace did
not work instead.

PS: I am sure there are other solutions, so don't give up.
