Chas

I have a new motherboard but the display card is about 5 years old.
When I scroll down in Internet Explorer or Word the page jumps down in
blocks instead of scrolling smoothly.
In Control Panel - System the display card is not showing so I cannot update
drivers or check settings.
Can anyone help please.

Try looking in the Device Manager.

Start | Run | Type: devmgmt.msc | Click OK |
Click the [+] next to Display Adapters | Double click your card

To get there from the Control Panel, double click System |
Hardware tab | Device Manager button

To get there from My Computer, right click My Computer | Properties |
Hardware tab | Device Manager button

Hope this helps. Let us know.

For things to move smoothly on windows, realisticly your graphics card
needs 32MB of RAM, if your graphics card is 5 years old, I dought it
has any more than 8MB of RAM, unless of course it’s some thing like
a TNT2 from 5 years ago, in which case it should be suffice.
