Display Calculated Value in Presentation

I am using PowerPoint for some training presentations. These are
automatic with soundtrack so folks can be trained at their convenience.
I want to be able to present a calculated magic code number at the end
for the trainee to record as evidence that they made it to the end of
the presentation.

I have fooled, hunted and researched how to accomplish this, but have
been unable to find any way to get this dynamically calculated value to
display on a slide.

Are you using a full version of PPT or the viewer and can you run macros?

If you can, the next problem is how to trigger a macro that'll make the magic.

You could set it up so the first slide doesn't automatically transition to
slide two; instead, the user has to click a "Start" button on a welcome screen
or the like. This could trigger the code.

If that sounds possible, then it should be fairly easy to make the number
appear at the end (but you'll need to work out how to generate the number and
how you'll verify that it's valid.)
