Disk-write protected

I have XP Pro. It will not copy or use a floppy drive. It says "This disk is
write-protected". I tried switching the little tab on the floppy itself. That
did not work. How can I fix this?

Use a different floppy diskette.
Use a different floppy diskette drive.

Did you try using a different floppy diskette drive - as suggested?
Hardware - it goes bad.
Especially *way* legacy hardware.
