Hello:

I have a W2K server which has 2 disk volumes in it via hardware RAID.

Disk 0 Operating System
Disk 1 User Home Folders

I need to extend the second volume. I can extend the array via the RAID
Controllers tools. When I do this I will end up with free space at the end
of the drive. I want to stretch the partition to the maximum size of the
drive. I know I could create a new partition and then mount a folder if the
first partition, but I would rather nto do that. In the NT world you could
use Server Magic from Power Quest to stretch out a partition. The version
for W2K server is Volume Manager but it does not work on Dynamic Disks. I
have a Dynamic Disk.

Does anyone know of a disk repartitioning utility that works on W2K server
with Dynamic Disk? Thanks.

First, I would not use dynamic disks with hardware RAID, its not really
needed. That being said, you can use diskpart to extend the space so
Windows can see it.

One final question....

In order for this utility to work the partition had to be created on a
Dynamic disk from the beginning. The server I want to use this on has been
in production for over a year. I am not sure if I converted the disk to
dynamic before I created the partition. Is there a way I can test the
utility before I send a tech on site?

Thanks.
