Sounds like a problem with the game's setup, not windows.
Call the support number listed on the game's packaging.

Which game?

Most installation programs give you an option somewhere in the process
to specify where you want the program to be installed. The default will
be your boot drive, but you can specify elsewhere. Windows doesn't
care, as long as it has the required registry entries to tell it where
things live.

I dual boot Win2K SP4 and Win XP SP2. Win2K boots off an IDE drive.
WinXP boots off a RAID 0 SATA array. I un-installed a bunch of things
like Office from 2K, then re-installed, and pointed them at the SATA
array (H:, here) instead of C:. The SATA RAID array is a lot faster
than the IDE drive, so I see a nice performance bo0ost in those apps.

Essentially, I have one copy of the applications shared between the two
OSes. It works fine.

You should be able to install the game to C: or D:, but without knowing
which it is, we can't help.
Thanks much

What is the source of the game that is going to be installed? Is it a
download? If so, then it seems to want at least 260 MB of space that is
available in a temporary folder, such as Temporary Internet. Does this
space exist, it might if it is emptied. Or it could be expanded in size.
But if the source of the game is a cdrom, then there is something wrong
with the game's installation or set up instructions unless it requires
the same amount of temporary space. This is what is probably happening.

Thanks much for your reply. This game is Nascar Heat by Hasbro
Interactive i purchased it back in 1999 or 2000 i have installed and
uninstalled it three times this week without any trouble. Last night i
installed cfs 2 on both harddrives (C:\ and D:\) and they are over 800MB i
think.
Would it work if i could figure out how to copy everything on the cd-rom
onto my C:\?

Thanks again , sure do appreciate the help.

Is this an old game or a DOS game? If so, the possibilities range from
inaccurate space determination to insufficient memory allocation to
corruption and ... <g>.
Same could apply for any games from windows 3.1 to 95 and maybe 98.
