I dont store to many things and friends say i shoul,d at least have 70 / 80 %
Why is this?
Can anyone please tell me how to get more space and delete any unwanted
space .How do i find out what is taking up the most disk space.
Thanks Tiffany

What does 10% drive space equal? System Restore is allowed to use 12%
by default. In the meantime you could do Disk Clean up. It sounds like
you are worrying about insignificant space.

Bear in mind that there can be a lot of temporary files in hidden folders
hanging around, including Temporary Internet Files (also often known as the
browser cache). I regularly see systems where these occupy a couple of
gigabytes. Unfortunately, the XP Disk Cleanup utility often leaves lots of
stuff behind.

There's a great little free utility to help with this. It's called
ccleaner - www.ccleaner.com . Download it and install it, paying attention
to the options - for example, I have all the toolbars I need so I decline
the Yahoo toolbar install. Run it, and choose the options you want. I
suggest, for the first time, selecting all of the options. This will
remove cookies as well. You can specify keeping cookies from particular
sites. If you use the Analyze button, the app will just list all the files
it will remove. Once you're happy with the options, let it go and delete
the files. This can take a bit of time, up to five or ten minutes the
first time. Once you've set it up and run it, you can run it "silently"
by right-clicking on the Recycle Bin and choosing Run Ccleaner. It will
do the things you've selected without opening the window - very easy and
unobtrusive.

Once this is done, consider the size of the Internet Explorer cache. In
IE, go to Tools, Internet Options, and in the Temporary Internet Files
section, choose Settings. In the window that pops up, you will see the
amount of space allocated. This can usually be reduced significantly.

Your friends are wrong. Certainly you shouldn't have so much of your drive
used that you are always in danger of running out, but nowhere 70-80% free
is required. For most people, something around 25% is more than enough.

Anyone who has 70-80% free all the time just bought too big a drive

I don't see any reason to worry about it, based on what you've said, but
running disk cleanup can't hurt.
