Disk Read Error Occurred

I just installed a new hard drive in my computer and installed Win2K OS on
it. After it finished installing, it rebooted, detects the HD and CD-ROM,
but it then gives me a "disk read error occurred". BIOS is set so that it
reads the A drive, then C drive, then CD-ROM. There is nothing in the A drive
or CD-ROM drive, so that's not the issue. Also, if I try to boot from the A
drive or CD-ROM, it works just fine. Worse yet, I tried replacing the new
hard drive with the old HD (which was working fine) and I get the same error.
I've checked all of the cables to make sure that they are not loose, and
they seem to be fine. I'm going nuts! Any ideas out there?

I had this experience before. Use the jumper on the mother board to clear the
mother board memory. While the system restart, it will try to re-detect all
hardwares again and got your new HD.

That did the trick. Thanks!

I am also facing the same problem; Can you bit explain about how to reset
jumber at mother board?
Jaheer

It should be explained in the motherboard manual and a picture pointing
it out as the "Clear CMOS" jumper.

I am getting this error after successful cloning of hard disk using NORTON
GHOST. Any clue? Instead of "Clear CMOS" jumper, i removed the battery and
tried; Does not help. Please add comments
